Minutes of Annual Meeting GMWS May 10, 2016
Meeting was held at the home of Bruce & Donna Epstein on Tuesday, May 10 in Waterbury, Vt. Present were Bruce & Donna Epstein, Darlene McCormick, Suzi Pike, Justin Campfield, Halle Davis, Bob & Val Smith, Joe Bourgeois, John Witmer. The meeting was called to order by Bruce Epstein (President) at 6:35 p.m.
2015 Minutes
Minutes from the 2015 meeting held on May 18, 2015 (unapproved) were available to review on line. Motion to approve passed.
2015-16 Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer’s report was reviewed and accepted. It is available to review on line. Currently we have approximately $2,035 balance.
Old Business
The 2015 Lake Iroquois Petition was rejected by the Agency of Natural Resources because the petitioner failed to meet the application requirements. To date, no new petition has been filed.
Dues- It was motioned and approved that dues for membership remain $10 for individuals and $15 for families.
Members are encouraged to create an account on the GMWS website and make postings, as this is currently the best method of communication.

A motion was made and accepted to elect the following slate of officers:

Membership Status: Currently new or existing members can sign up on line for recurring membership through PayPal, or pay yearly dues by check or cash. In an effort to help grow our membership, some of the remaining GMWS decals/stickers from last year’s one-time order of 100 were given to attendees to distribute to potential new or existing members.
Equipment Rentals: We reviewed that GMWS assets are available for rent to club members at $50/use each, i.e. tent, generator, PA system. All club assets and inventory are available to review on our website.
New Business
We discussed the potential purchase by the club of an AED (automated external defibrillator) as an addition to our safety equipment. Bruce Epstein will evaluate cost and report to the board.
Ski clinics/tournaments with t-shirt status – the club will host its yearly tournament at Wrightsville Reservoir Aug.27, 2016. Fred Costello has agreed to fund t-shirts again this year.
Justin Campfield has organized NESS (the Northeast Slalom Series). Our tournament will be one of six sites in the series. The NOPS handicapped scoring system will be used to determine the male and female winner. The Eastern Regional Guide has information for those interested in participating. There is a $25 fee to sign up for the NESS Series.
Bruce Epstein will contact Jamie Beauchesne to host another ski clinic this year. It was left open as to how much funding the club will subsidize.
Justin Campfield agreed to again put up snow fencing at the ledge outcrop for our Wrightsville tournament. Joe Bourgeois & John Witmer agreed to help.
Bruce Epstein proposed a $100 budget expense for tournament course maintenance.
The Alan Rossi award was presented last September to Randy Youngsma. GMWS, other N.E. ski clubs, and individuals currently contribute to the Alan Rossi fund.
Status of ski sites – Wrightsville Reservoir & Lake Iroquois slalom courses have been installed. Waterbury Reservoir plans to have one of its courses installed within the next week. Justin Campfield is checking into installing a course on the Conn. River near Wilder Dam.
We discussed the future storage of our GMWS equipment. Currently it is divided up at the homes of various club members, with the majority being stored at Bob & Val Smith’s. Bob shared that Rick Duckworth would be willing to store our dock at his home in the future. We discussed the possibility of the club purchasing a used trailer to keep our equipment in one location.
